weekend with judy wise

Judy Wise has come and gone and i couldn't have imagined our weekend together being any more special.
we started our long weekend with a walk on the north end of wrightsville beach.  she loved the landscape and all the different shells we have on the east coast.  (mostly the little shark eyed moon snails).
after a lovely walk we headed home to start our weekend of art making and journaling.  the next couple of days were spent making art, learning and discovering and building friendships.
the group of women that came together for this retreat were from all over the country.....from seattle to nantucket and all in between.  i love the  connections we all made and the excitement at having THE judy wise here to share her knowledge and talent with us.
this morning it all started again, the daily grind, school and kids, dogs and cats....errands to run and menus to plan...  but not without a bundle of new memories to hold in my special heart space.  the friendships and bonds we all  formed are priceless.
i look forward to our next adventure

For the Artist at the start of Day
May morning be astir with the harvest of night;
Your mind quickening to the eros of a new question,
Your eyes seduced by some unintended glimpse
That cut right through the surface to a source.

May this be a morning of innocent beginning,
When the gift within you slips clear
Of the sticky web of the personal
With its hurt and its hauntings,
And fixed fortress corners,

A morning when you become a pure vessel
For what wants to ascend from silence,

May your imagination know
The grace of perfect danger,

To reach beyond imitation,
And the wheel of repetition,

Deep into the call of all
The unfinished and unsolved

Until the veil of the unknow yields
And something original begins
To stir toward your senses
And grow stronger in your heart.
